A Wash Day and Life Update

It's been a few weeks since I actually wrote a blog. COVID-19 just changed the world, and like so many others, I'm dealing with it and everything else this pandemic brings. Truth be told, living in one of the biggest hot spots in the world (right outside NYC) has spiked my anxiety, and more often than not with everything, I've just felt so very depressed, down and drained. Life is so scary. I can't wait for the world to get past this nightmare!! Okay, enough about that. I did manage to actually put makeup on and take some updated pictures the other day, so read on for more on that wash day and a hair update.

MOST WASH DAYS LATELY
As mentioned earlier, I haven't been feeling my best. I'm still working out every day, because that is non negotiable, but also have been sleeping more since I'm so drained and mentally worn down from what is happening in the world.  Also, though admittedly a bit selfish in thinking, I'm upset this is causing a forced pause onto my endless job search. I just want a full time career and have been trying for so long and now it's just more delayed. Thankfully, my husband has been working from home and what is going on does not effect his job at all. I just haven't been super motivated to style or put much effort into my hair, or bother applying makeup. Who is going to see me anyway? That, and my hair could use a styling product rest. Most wash days lately I've been using the Tweak-d Restore Cleansing Treatment on dry and wet hair as a pre-poo, then cleansing with Raw Curls Cleanser, rinsing then spraying some Raw Curls Anti-Frizz Spray and using their Conditioner as a leave in, adding in a little Prose Custom Oil Blend and calling it a day. No scrunching, no sectioning, nothing too fancy. I haven't really been following up with deep treatments or masks most days since the Tweak-d takes that place as well. I've been letting it air dry and keeping it in a very loose invisibobble low ponytail to stay off my face.

RAW CURLS
I forgot how much I love Raw Curls products. Between using them and not using many other styling products, my hair has air dried lately in record time. Raw Curls is so clean, they are organic, have tons of beneficial botanicals and actives inside and just work so well. They are "Curly Girl Method" approved if you are strict with that. The creators also have a weekly Curly Podcast that is very informative and enjoyable, so be sure to give that a listen if you'd like!

WASH DAY
Once a month I do a double treatment using Olaplex No 1 and No 2 and the Aphogee Two Step Protein Treatment after clarifying. Since Friday was the time to do it, I decided to actually put a little makeup on also and snap a few pictures. To be honest, styling my hair and putting makeup on for whatever reason made me feel a little better, it was a nice distraction!

Products used:
-Pre-poo: Olaplex No 1 & No 2 (see details on them HERE)
-Cleanse: Aquis Hair Detoxifying Hair and Scalp Wash (clarified)
-Treatment: Aphogee Two Step Protein Treatment with heat, rinsed and Jessicurl deep treatment on top to add moisture back in (see my post about the Aphogee Treatment HERE)
-Stylers: Raw Curls Anti-frizz Spray, Conditioner (as a leave in) mixed with Save Me From Chemical Conflict Hair Reboot, Original Moxie Hold Up Serum/Oasis Gel combo and Prose Custom Oil to seal. After styling and using the Aquis Hair towel, I used Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil with more gel as a final st
ep.

Technique: I tried a new technique I’m really liking. @thecurlninja just released super informative and helpful classes and I tried her “definition and control” technique. Admittedly I didn’t follow it exact, but even what I did do, I’m liking a lot- curl definition, frizz control, less styling time than what i was doing and my hair air dried quicker! She is a wealth of information for caring for our curls and I highly encourage you to follow her if you are not already.

Also, I'm happy I can take wash day pictures outside again! I just love longer daylight in Spring and Summer.

I am going to try to do wash day pictures at least weekly again, hopefully. I also have a few videos I want to record soon so be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you are not yet.
