CIC Beauty Hair.Toxx Cryotherapy At Home Treatment
I've heard of cryotherapy benefits before, but never went for a treatment since I'm not a fan of being cold. But cryotherapy specifically for a hair is a new, unique and interesting concept! I always thought hair was not supposed to get really cold, but apparently this has some benefits! Who knew!? I was very excited to try this at home version by CIC Beauty. Read on for more.
The Hairtoxx Hair Treatment with Frozen Flat Iron from CIC Beauty is said to help bring all kinds of damaged hair back to life! There is an in salon version and an at home version. Sadly, I do not live in the same state as CIC Beauty's Salon (Ouidad Flagship Ft Lauderdale, Flordia), but I was excited to get some benefits using the easy at home version.
Here is some information about the treatment from cicbeauty.com and the products' boxes:
"Cryotherapy is a revolutionary treatment that repairs the damaged and fragile hair. Working with extremely low temperatures, it acts on the hair’s strand from the inside out, correcting and replenishing the damaged fibers. This technology freezes the nutrients and the hyaluronic acid at the hair’s cortex, boosting and prolonging the Hair.Toxx Ful Treatment.
Cryotherapy treatment is potent because it not only shields the hair against damage (natural, chemical and environmental), but it also repairs destroyed hair cuticle fibers; especially cuticles damaged through discoloration or lack of hydration and care.
It’s a filler treatment that refills the hair cortex with its Hyaluronic Acid and multiple amino acids, promoting strength, resistance, and flexibility to the hair.
Cryotherapy (Ice-Cold Treatment)
It complements the Plastic Surgery Service for an inside-out treatment: while the products acts inside (in the cortex), the Frozen Machine acts outside (on the cuticles) promoting 3D shine and ultra softness.
The Frozen Iron keeps damaged hair frozen out, even at home!
The Hair.ToxxFull Treatment is a complete hair recovery! Its formula, rich in AçaíBerry from the Amazon and Lipophilic Complex, has the power to recover all damage caused by natural agents and chemical processes. Hair.Toxx is free of silicone, sulfates, phthalates, DEA, aldehydes and is never tested on animals. Its anti-oxidant capacity provides deep hydration and reconstruction, rejuvenating the hair cuticle. The results are visible right after the first application!"
The treatment was very easy to use. I froze the flat iron boards for two hours, as directed and took them out of the freezer to use after the treatment was applied.
The Gentle Clarifier Shampoo had a nice lather. My hair did feel squeaky clean after, but it is a clarifying shampoo so that's to be expected.
The Protective Mask was thick. The kit includes three small jars, each jar is supposed to be one treatment. However, since my hair is very dry, damaged and longer, one jar was not enough for me. I had to use a jar and a half so the total kit will only give me two treatments, instead of three total, which is a little bit disappointing but it's fine.
The kit comes with Revitalizing Serum that you mix with the mask. Again it is supposed to be enough for three treatments, but I wanting to use proper ratio to the mask, I used more so I will only get two treatments from it. They mask and serum mixed together easily, and the kit includes a mixing bowl and spatula for convenience.
I applied the mask and serum mix in small sections, massaging them into towel dried, clean hair as instructed. Once it was applied all over, I took the flat iron boards out of the freezer. I started off with the front sections of my hair, since those are the most damaged and unmanageable, I figured do them while the flat iron was at it's coldest. As per the directions, I went over each section of hair four times, and took my time running it down my lengths. As someone who has not flat ironed her hair straight in years, using a flat iron my hair just felt a bit bizarre, but it was treating, not damaging so I was all for it! I noticed intense shine in my hair after I used the iron. By the time I was finished, I did notice the iron was not as cold as it was when I began.
Once all of my hair was treated with the frozen flat iron, I rinsed in cold water, a not so fun, but necessary step. My hair looked shiny and felt very soft. The directions stated to finish the treatment, use a blow drier. I usually like to air dry, so I air dried for hours and then hit my hair for a few minutes with cool air to make sure to follow directions. I applied my usual product combo (leave in, filler, gel and oil) and used the same styling techniques as usual.
Here are my results from the first use. My hair is about 90-95% completely dry.
VIDEO REVIEW
Here is a video of Chadwick Pendley, one of the co-creators of this unique concept, talking about it on The Curly Q and A Show with Ken and Melanie Nickels!
Overall, I think Hair Cryotherapy is a very unique concept in treating damaged hair. The instructions says to use every ten days, but I am planning to use once a month since I also like to do a hard protein treatment once a month and I don't want to over treat, so I will space them two weeks apart.
I'd love to get the salon version done someday.
