A Great Wash Day...But My Hair Is Still Damaged #RecallDevaCurl
WASH DAY
Here is what I used:
-Pre-Poo: Olaplex No 3
-Cleanse: Tweak-d By Nature Yogi Berry Restore Cleansing Treatment, Restore Shampoo
-Condition: Aphogee Keratin Two Minute Reconstructor
-Stylers: Save Me From Chemical Conflict/Pollution Assault Hair Reboots, Tweak-d by Nature Restore Conditioner, Olaplex No 6 Reparative Smoothing Creme, Original Moxie Hold Up/Oasis combo, Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil
So I started off by applying the Olaplex before working out. It was left in about two and a half hours. Before getting in the shower, I applied the Tweak-d by Nature Yogi-Berry Cleansing Treatment onto dry hair, on top of the Olaplex. I let it sit about five minutes while washing my face and dry brushing my body. Once in the shower, I rinsed and then applied more of the tweak-d on my lengths. This is one of the best smelling products in the history of the world, and I like the idea of the cleansing treatment helping to protect my lengths. This product is also very concentrated so I did not need much. To shampoo, I used the Tweak-d By Nature Restore Shampoo. You definitely don't need to use both products at once, in fact the cleansing treatment can actually be a 5 in 1, but personal preference, I prefer a shampoo for my scalp to really clean my follicles and help with build up.
It may seem like I used quite a bit of styling products, but my hair is still SO DAMAGED from the devacurl disaster, even if it is getting better. The main new thing here was adding in the Tweak-d by Nature Restore Conditioner as part of the leave in. Since I added this in, I used a but less of the Olaplex Smoothing Creme to compensate. This conditioner is so rich and I only need such a little bit!
This is my second time using the Aphogee Keratin Two Minute Reconstructor. The directions say damaged hair can leave it on up to five minutes, so I left it on for five. I love how quick and effective this product is!
Technique: I applied products in small sections, roping them through and then scrunching a little. I used my Aquis Towel to remove excess moisture and then added in the Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil. Air dried. Clipped front hairline pieces to stretch them out.
The more Tweak-d by Nature products I use, the more I love the brand! I am reaching for a lot of products in their "Restore" line. The brand claims these products help significantly with breakage, and I truly believe this is so. I notice my breakage and shedding have both decreased a bit, and I think that these products are a good part truly to thank.
I was very happy with my curl definition this wash. I had some frizz, but I expect it at this point.
These were taken in front of my ring light, no flash.
These were taken in my bathroom just to show my hair in a second lighting option. These were taken before the above and I didn't scrunch out the crunch the Original Moxie gels gave me completely yet:
DAY 2
Car selfie lighting is the best. I'd love to take Day 1 car selfies, but my hair never air dries before the sun goes down this time of the year. To refresh, I didn't need to do much since all I did to work out was some yoga/stretching and didn't sweat. I used the Tweak-d by Nature Restore Revitalizing Hair Treatment Mist with some Original Moxie Pop Life Mousse and High Shine Pomade on top. Since Devadisaster, my Day 2 hair has been so much frizzier than it used to be. Sigh.
My Day 3 hair was in a low, loose invisibobble all day to keep it off my face while I relaxed with my husband. I didn't fuss with it at all until nighttime when I applied an overnight treatment for wash day the next morning.
MY HAIR IS STILL DAMAGED
I've been getting a lot of mean comments about my hair lately. Some people are telling me it doesn't look good, which I know- it used to look so much better. Others are saying I'm a liar and I don't have damage from Devacurl. This is ABSURD to me. Why would anyone lie about that!? Especially when I made my first video in early December, long before the issue went viral. I know people have suffered much more damage than I have, I'm not ignorant. I think being a product junkie helped it not be worse. But my damage is still very much there. My hair has been my "thing," so this whole issue has really been effecting my self esteem and confidence tremendously. My hair thinned out so much, I see so much scalp when it is wet which is EXTREMELY depressing. Also, though my lengths may look a bit better, they still feel so dry and my hair overall is frizzier than it was. I also lost so much length goal, as I've been trying to grow my hair really long and strong. But, I'm working on it and trying to repair it as best I can. Additionally, my day 2 and day 3 hair have been such a struggle to look decent, when they used to be so easy for me!!
